Amanda Bossard, fresh out from Anchorage High School 1992 started studying marine biology in 1992. Bossard started her journey working in the commercial seafood sector in the year 1999. That year she worked in Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut boat. It was later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard, who is engaged to Aritan, has joined their teams to take over their respective industries. They support conservative, profitable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith launched its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia in the year Bossard came back from her home in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. Its name is a sweet reference to her deep understanding of fish biology and her husband's extensive involvement in the seafood industry often keeping them from each other for 5 months or longer as they work towards financial and environmental goals which reflect both their independence and commitment to their community wherever they live. As of July 2016 Bossard along with her daughter Isabella age 12 and son Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer to work as deckhands throughout the summer wild salmon harvest. Hooks and lines are used to catch their fish after which they join Aritan to sell to local processors for two months. After that, they expand their direct seafood product sale via Otolith Sustainable Seafood. Amanda Bossard works as an anchor/MMJ for News 12 Brooklyn and News 12 Bronx. She has worked at News 12 since the beginning of November 2015. She enjoys highlighting the good things happening in the boroughs that she covers and share stories that impact.
